MICRO INSTRUMENTATION & TELEMETRY SYSTEMS (MITS): (_Company Info_)
(Page 1/1)

Classification: / Company Info,
Info: MICRO INSTRUMENTATION AND TELEMTRY SYSTEMS was initiated on 12-aug-1969 as an outgrowth of Reliance Engineering Services of San Antonio, Texas, specializing in the consulting engineering design of analog and digital instrumentation systems.

Subsequent to the incorporation of MITS in Albuquerque, New Mexico manufacturing operations were begun in the production of miniturized instrumentation and telemetry systems for both industrial and commercial markets, and in only three short years, the corporate value of MITS did increase over fifty times, while its beginning specialized product line has grown into seven distinct areas.

The primary conceptual goal of the corporation was ever been to provide the electronics enthusiast with contemporary, ’state of the art’-products, priced within reasonable limits, yet maintaining the highest possible quality through controlled engineering.

MITS was the first manufacturer to produce an electronic kit which incorporated components MOS/LSI.
Development of a primary product line [electronic calculators] was begun during the summer of 1970, and MITS was the initial manufacturer world-wide to offer an electronic digital computer in kit form.

Heavy consumer response to the first calculator models (featured on the cover of nov-1971 POPULAR ELECTRONICS, and editorialized in such national publications as RADIO ELECTRONICS, DESIGN NEWS, MACHINE DESIGN, and ELECTRONICS ILLUSTRATED] caused an immediate concentration of effort in this field.
